COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD) — Fans will notice some new additions at Fifth Third Ballpark when the West Michigan Whitecaps take the field in their home opener on Thursday.
Crews just put the finishing touches on the ballpark’s new Budweiser Bowtie Deck, which sits a top a new Whitecaps office building along the right field line. The new deck will add about 200 extra seats for fans.
“It’s going to be a great place to watch the game for groups,” Whitecaps Marketing Director Mickey Graham said. “You can see the river on one side and the field on the other with a great view. We think fans are really going to enjoy it.”
There’s also a new Craft Clubhouse featuring 16 craft beers on tap.
As for the new office building, Whitecaps management will be able to move into their new offices within the next week or so, Graham said.
They were forced from their old office space after the massive fire at the ballpark in January of 2014.
Graham said they’ve done a lot of rebuilding since then and the ballpark’s comeback got a lot of attention.
In fact, Graham said the Whitecaps saw their best ticket sales in 13 years last season.
The Whitecaps will face off against the Dayton Dragons Thursday at 6:35 p.m. at Fifth Third Ballpark.
