Fisherman goes missing on Diamond Lake

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities in Cass County are looking for a man who went fishing on Diamond Lake last week and never returned.

Kurt DeYoung, 46, was last seen on the afternoon of April 8 leaving Park Shore Marina on a pontoon boat to go fishing on the lake in Cassopolis.

The empty pontoon was discovered on Saturday, having drifted onto the shore of Diamond Island.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says it thinks DeYoung was working on the motor, trying to restart the boat, and may have fallen overboard.

The Sheriff’s Office and Marine Division searched the lake over the weekend and on Monday, but as of Monday afternoon had not located DeYoung.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cass County Central Dispatch at 269.445.1560.
