Man sentenced for bat, pickaxe assault

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A 19-year-old who attacked a Holland Township man with a pickaxe and baseball bat was sentenced Monday.

Codi Antoniello was sentenced to between five and 20 years in prison for first-degree home invasion and between two and four years for felonious assault.

Police say Antoniello and a 16-year-old went to the 21-year-old victim’s Holland Township home in December and assaulted him, inflicting wounds to his face and head. The conflict started after one of the suspects, who is dating the victim’s ex-girlfriend, communicated with the victim via Facebook.

Antoniello was arrested a couple of days after the assault as he was trying to shave his head to alter his appearance, police said.

He pleaded guilty on March 16 to the home invasion and felonious assault charges.

The 16-yaer-old was also arrested.
