Ex-officer sentenced for drunk driving

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — A former Fruitport Township officer who drove drunk with his infant son in the backseat will serve probation.

Timothy Thompson was sentenced Tuesday to 12 months probation. He pleaded guilty in March to operating while intoxicated with an occupant under the age of 16.

The drunk driving incident happened in November 2014. When Thompson was pulled over in Coopersville, his blood alcohol content (BAC) level was .14. Michigan’s legal limit to drive is .08. His 3-month-old son was in the backseat.

Thompson was then fired from his job at the Fruitport Township Police Department.
