SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A man has been charged with murder after a September 2014 crash fatally wounded a woman.
Joshua Levi Adams was arrested Sunday and charged Monday with second-degree murder, operating while intoxicated causing death, operating with a suspended license causing death, and being a third-offense habitual offender.
The wreck happened in the early hours of Sept. 21, 2014 on 40th Avenue west of 46th Street in Arlington Township, northwest of Paw Paw. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said at the time that a Hyundai Sonata left the road, hit a fence and then crashed into a tree.
The 31-year-old Adams of Breedsville, passenger Nora Moore of Dowagiac and a second passenger, also from Dowagiac, were all hospitalized. Adams sustained injuries to his neck and a 27-year-old passenger sustained internal injuries.
Moore, 30, sustained a severe head injury and “multiple other serious injuries.” She died on Sept. 30.
Authorities said at the time that alcohol was believed to be a factor, but Adams was not charged until just this week. It wasn’t immediately made clear why it took so long for charges to be brought.
Adams’s bond was set at $600,000. He is expected back in court on April 22.
