GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) For many runners, the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon and 5K was the first of a long season of races ahead. For others, it was their first event ever. A total of 3,523 runners participated in Gazelle Girl, a 23% increase over last year. Organizers say with the help of a great race committee and volunteers, the event is becoming a motivator for women to get moving.
Anyone who finished the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon is halfway to earning a special award. Gazelle Girl and the Fifth Third River Bank Run are partnering for a special dual medal. It’s for those who complete the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon and the River Bank Run 25K. Organizers expect between 700 and 800 women may qualify for the new medal.
Registration is still open for the Fifth Third River Bank Run on May 9. Sign up online or become a volunteer. It’s all on their website.
