Worker who threw nuts, bolts in granola sentenced

Ruben Gramajo, 22

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man who threw nuts and bolts into granola mix at a Kentwood bakery plant has been sentenced.

Ruben Gramajo was sentenced Tuesday to four months in the Kent County Correctional Facility and five years of probation along with restitution in the amount of $67,447.01.

On Jan. 7, he threw a handful of nuts and bolts into granola mix at the Hearthside Foods Bakery on 44th Street in Kentwood. A surveillance camera captured images of him doing it. The food never made it to customers because the plant’s security and quality measures kicked in.

Gramajo said he did it so he could “get a break from work,” according to court documents.
