BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A Battle Creek man suspected in the death of a 20-month-old child last December has been arrested.
Paramedics were called to a home in the 10000 block of Old US-27 in Fredonia Township on Dec. 18, 2014, for an unresponsive child.
The toddler, identified as Athena Ramey, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died the next day.
On April 22 the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide.
The Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office then issued a homicide warrant for 28-year-old Anthony Ball, the boyfriend of the deceased toddler’s mother, on April 28.
Around 8 a.m. the next day, members of the Major Crimes Task Force arrested the Ball after he left his home.
Ball is being held at the Calhoun County Jail on charges of homicide and child abuse.
