Know before you go: 5/3 River Bank Run morning

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Whether you’re heading to downtown Grand Rapids today to participate in or watch the 2016 Fifth Third River Bank Run, get prepared with this helpful information.

STREET CLOSURES:

A number of streets will shut down completely for the race and others that will only have partial closures. Check out the full list of closures and closure times here

PARKING:

Participants and spectators can chose from a number of downtown parking locations on Saturday morning:

  • 210 Ionia Street
  • Bridgewater Place
  • DeVos Place
  • Government Ramp (across from DeVos Place)
  • Monroe Center Ramp
  • Ottawa-Fulton ramp

The Fifth Third River Bank Run website has a list of when certain garages and ramps will be inaccessible due to the race. Also, check out this parking guide to getting to downtown Grand Rapids ramps.

BAGGAGE:

Fifth Third River Bank Run is asking both spectators and participants to limit the baggage they take to the race. There will be random bag checks.

Participants will need to check their gear in a provided plastic bag at the gear check station at DeVos Place available from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Those bags will need to be retrieved by 12:30 p.m.

Do not leave any bags unattended.

PUBLIC RESTROOMS:

Portable restrooms, including handicap restrooms, will be available at the start and finish line of the race, near aid stations and on Calder Plaza where the Finish Fest will take place.

RACE START TIMES:

  • 5K: 7 a.m.
  • 10K: 7:40 a.m. (staggered start)
  • 25K Handcycle: 8:15 a.m.
  • 25K Wheelchair: 8:16 a.m.
  • 25K 8:30 a.m.
  • 25K myTEAM Triumph: 8:50 a.m.
  • 5K Walk: 9 a.m.
