COLOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man has been arraigned in the slaying of his mother whose body was found by police in Coloma Township.
Monty Ray Menefee, 47, was charged Friday with open murder in the death of his mother, 79-year-old Lavonne Monta, on April 25 at an illegal makeshift home they shared in an old industrial building in Coloma Township. Bond was set at $1 million.
After days of authorities searching for him, Menefee was arrested at a rest area in Lake County, Ohio. He was pulled over by a trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol during a routine patrol.
