GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Firefighters believe an electrical fire may have caused heavy smoke inside the Rivertown Crossings Mall in Grandville.

No one was inside the mall when firefighters say haze triggered the fire alarm just before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

When the Grandville Fire Department arrived on scene, they found significant smoke in the food court area near the A&W restaurant but no flames were seen.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but firefighters say it smelled like an electrical fire.

The Rivertown Crossings Mall remained open for people who walk inside the mall. Stores inside the mall aren’t scheduled to open until 10 a.m.
