GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Grand Rapids will host the world premiere of an amazingly powerful documentary about a monumental medical missions program that’s changing lives.

“We Are the Ones” tells the story of three surgeons who unite for peace during the Sudanese Civil War. One of the doctors featured in the documentary is Dr. Glenn Geelhoed, a graduate of Calvin College. He is one of many doctors around the country and in West Michigan who take medical and nursing students on medical mission trips to countries in Africa, Central America, and Asia.

The world premiere of “We Are the Ones” is at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at Celebration! Cinema Woodland. Tickets are $10.

Calvin College is hosting the first-ever symposium on medical missions on Saturday, May 16. The Medical Mission Symposium will feature keynote speakers Dr. Glenn Geelhoed and Dr. David Stevens, CEO of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations. The symposium is from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are included. It is free for medical students, but registration is required.
