The question that could save your life: are you dense?

Are You Dense graphic

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) WOOD TV8 and WOTV 4 Women are dedicating this week to educating everyone about breast density. This leads up to June 1, when a new law that impacts all women in the state goes into effect.

The “Are You Dense?” campaign aims to help make Michigan women better aware of their breast density.   It’s important to know if your breasts are dense or not because it can alter the effectiveness of a regular mammogram.

May 12 on WOTV 4 Women, starting with Maranda Where You Live at 7 p.m., breast cancer and breast density will be the focus. From how it impacts families in West Michigan to the services and resources available to help women, their children, and their families. Following that at 7:30 p.m. is a half-hour special “Real Women, Real Stories: Breast Cancer.” Teresa Hendricks-Pitsch first shared her own breast cancer story two years ago. At 7:30 p.m., find out more about her mission to “be her own advocate” and educate women about breast density.
