South Bend, Ind. (WOOD) — Authorities have arrested a Niles man in Indiana after he allegedly tried to kill his girlfriend.

Michael Jerome Exom III, 28, was arrested on Tuesday in South Bend, Indiana by members of the U.S. Marshall Service. He is being held at the Saint Joseph County, Indiana jail pending his extradition to Berrien County where he is facing charges of assault with intent to murder, unlawful imprisonment and felony firearms.

On March 22, Exom allegedly shot his girlfriend, a 24-year-old Niles woman, at Aaron’s Mini-Storage in the 2600 block of N. 5th Street in Niles Township. Authorities say Exom shot her using a handgun after an argument.
