Man hospitalized after stabbing in Kzoo county

A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed in Portage Saturday morning. (May 16, 2015)

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed in Portage Saturday morning.

The stabbing happened at around 3:30 a.m. on Windham Avenue in the Colonial Acres Mobile Home park.

According to a lieutenant from the Portage Police Department on scene, crews responded to a home in the area on reports of shots fired and someone possibly being stabbed.

Authorities believe a fight started between several people at a home during a gathering. The group then left the home and a physical confrontation took place in a driveway on Yarmouth Street.

During the altercation, a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the lower back and was transported to the hospital by his friends.

The victim was in the ER and was listed in stable condition. The victim’s name is not being released at this time.

Officers have not identified a suspect and no arrests have been made.
