GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Griffins lost to the Utica Comets in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.
Playing at home at Van Andel Arena on Sunday, the Griffins lost 3-2.

With their Sunday win, the Comets lead the best-of-seven series three games to two. That means they only need one more win to take the series.
The series will return to War Memorial Stadium in Utica this week for Game 6 and, if necessary, Game 7:
- Game 6: 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 2
- (If necessary) Game 7: 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3
“We won’t talk about what will happen if we lose at all,” Griffins head coach Jeff Blashill said after Sunday’s loss. “All we’re going to focus on is trying to win a game on Tuesday. That’s the only focus we’re going to have, and what does it take to win the game. You don’t need any extra motivation or any extra anything.”
The winner of the series progresses to the Calder Cup Finals versus the Manchester Monarchs, who won the Eastern Conference Finals.
