Father, daughter injured when car hits riding mower

PAVILION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A father and his 7-year-old daughter were injured after the lawn mower they were riding was hit by a vehicle.

It happened around shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 5400 block of E. R Avenue, according to a Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Deputies say Michael Parker and his daughter, Rylie Hemmes, were mowing the lawn near the shoulder of the road when a vehicle, driven by 74-year-old Flo Friender, veered off the road — hitting the rear of the mower.

Both Parker and Hemmes were ejected from the lawn mower.

According to deputies, Parker was seriously injured, while Hemmes received minor injuries. Friender was not injured in the incident.
