Teen seriously burned in go-cart crash

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD)– A 14-year-old boy is hospitalized in serious condition after crashing his go-cart Saturday afternoon.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened a few minutes after noon.

Authorities say Hunter Shrauger, of Coopersville, was driving an eight-horsepower go-cart in the parking lot of Allendale High School. Shrauger lost control while making a turn which caused the go-cart to flip over. The vehicle then caught on fire.

Shrauger suffered burns on his arms, legs and torso and was taken to a Grand Rapids hospital, where authorities say he is in serious condition.

Investigators say Shrauger was wearing a helmet and a lap restraint at the time of the crash.
