Woman sentenced for fatal wrong-way crash

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman who caused a fatal wrong-way crash on I-96 near Grand Rapids is headed to prison.

Monday, Michelle Lerma was sentenced to 43 months to 15 years in prison for operating while intoxicated causing death.

The wreck happened Sept. 14 on I-96 near the East Beltline. Authorities say Lerma, 40, was driving east in the westbound lanes when her minivan collided with a car, killing the other driver, 58-year-old Gregory Johnson of Grass Lake.
