GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — ArtPrize On Screen, a new film competition presented by the Waterfront Film Festival, will showcase more than 20 films during ArtPrize 2015.
The festival will present three best-in-category awards including Best Feature, Best Documentary and Best Short Film which will be voted on separately by both the public and jurors. The films will be shown at various venues around downtown Grand Rapids during ArtPrize.
The film lineup for ArtPrize On Screen was released in late June. It will showcase 21 films, many with Michigan ties, including six feature narratives, five documentaries and 10 short films.
Organizers of the Waterfront Film Festival decided to cancel the summer event this year.
“Launching a new event that focuses on the competition is going to offer a unique twist on what Waterfront has done in the past,” Waterfront Film Festival Co-Founder Hopwood DePree said. “We are creating a brand new event in the spirit of ArtPrize and people can still expect the same types of great films, guests and opportunities for which Waterfront has become recognized.”
DePree said the film festival may return to the lakeshore in the summer of 2016 and 2017, in addition to the ArtPrize partnership.
