GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) On Friday, June 12, Brett Thomas will anchor his last newscast for 24 Hour News 8. After 17 years with WOOD TV8, Brett is moving on to anchor the evening newscasts at WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Brett started at WOOD TV8 in 1998 and started anchoring Daybreak in 2005.

Brett experienced several milestones during his time at WOOD TV8, including reporting from Ground Zero after 9/11, from the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina, from the banks of the Grand River during the historic flooding of 2013, and was part of the extensive coverage of President Ford’s funeral.

Brett won an Emmy for his story on deadly medical mistakes and has earned recognition from the Associated Press, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Michigan Television and News Photographers Association.
