HS softball, baseball state semifinals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — By the end of the week, the state champions in high school softball and baseball will be named. State semifinal games were on Wednesday.

Softball state semifinals

Division 2:

  • Wayland beat St. Clair 11-0. Wayland advances to play Frankenmuth in the state championship at 10 a.m. Saturday at Michigan State University.

Division 1:

  • Caledonia beat Farmington Hills Mercy 5-2.
  • Warren Regina beat Mattawan 7-1.

Caledonia will play Warren Regina in the state finals at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at MSU.

Baseball state semifinals

Division 1:

  • Portage Northern beat error-prone Grosse Point South 8-0.
  • Hartland beat Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills 5-0.

Portage Northern will now face Hartland in the Division 1 state championship at 9 a.m. Saturday at MSU.

In Division 2:

  • Orchard Lake St. Mary’s beat Vicksburg 8-1.
  • Mount Pleasant beat Adrian 9-0.

The Division 2 state final between Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and Mount Pleasant is at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at MSU.
