Police investigate suspicious fire at Kentwood business

A Kentwood business was destroyed in a fire early Thursday morning. (June 11, 2015)

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a business in Kentwood.

The fire started around 1:45 a.m. Thursday at a building that contains five businesses in the 4400 block of Eastern Avenue near 44th Street.

Firefighters on scene said one of the businesses was destroyed in the fire. The other four businesses sustained smoke damage.

Crews said when they arrived on scene, a window had been broken into and no one was inside.

The fire remains under investigation.
