1 with life-threatening injuries after crash

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were seriously injured and a third was arrested following a crash in Grand Rapids Saturday.

The single-car crash happened around 5:40 p.m. in the 2300 block of Butterworth Street SW east of Maynard Avenue SW, according to the Grand Rapids police.

GRPD says there were four males in a westbound car that was going at a “high rate of speed.” The car crossed the centerline, left the roadway and hit a tree.

One person was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Another sustained life-threatening injuries.

The 28-year-old driver was arrested for reckless driving causing serious injury, GRPD said.

The crash remains under investigation.
