Authorities: Thieves break into store through ceiling

BLOOMINGDALE, Mich. (WOOD) — Someone broke into a grocery store in Bloomingdale through the ceiling this week and got away with cash, Van Buren County authorities say.

The break-in happened sometime between 10:13 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday at the Wagoner’s Grocery Store in the 100 block of North Van Buren Street, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office says the thief or thieves got in to the grocery store by breaking through the ceiling. They then used what is believed to have been a type of reciprocating power saw to cut open a safe in an office.

They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
