Bike sharing in GR as early as July

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A new bike sharing program is coming to Grand Rapids.

The executive director of The Spoke Folks confirmed with 24 Hour News 8 that the nonprofit is working to launch the program by early next month. The startup is funded by a private investor.

The plan is to start with 60 bikes; A small-scale rollout of what could be a much bigger program.

It will be an “app-driven” bike sharing program, rather than a “station-driven” program, 24 Hour News 8 was told.

It will cost riders a flat fee of $1 per ride, plus $0.15 per minute. An hour-long ride would cost $10.
