KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A Calhoun County sheriff’s deputy has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested over the weekend for allegedly driving under the influence.
The deputy was arrested by officers with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety after being involved in an accident near the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Forbes Street in Kalamazoo early Saturday morning. The deputy was allegedly operating a vehicle under the influence at the time of the incident.
The news release from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office did not specify if the deputy was suspected of drinking alcohol or using drugs.
The deputy was arrested and lodged in the Kalamazoo County Jail. Authorities have not released the deputy’s name.
The incident remains under investigation and exact charges are pending.
The deputy has been placed on administrative leave while the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office conducts its own internal investigation.
