BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A home invasion suspect is recovering in the hospital after he was stabbed multiple times.
Deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department were called to a home in the 3000 block of 9 1/2 Mile Road in Burlington Township for a home invasion around 3 a.m. Monday.
Upon further investigation, deputies say an ex-boyfriend, identified as a 26-year-old man from Union City, had broken into the house while four people were sleeping.
The ex-boyfriend then began fighting with one of the people in the house. During the fight, he was stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife and ran away.
A K-9 was brought in to help track the suspect, but was unsuccessful due to the heavy rainfall.
A short time later, troopers with the Michigan State Police found the suspect walking on M60 near Union City.
He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The suspect is expected to face first-degree home invasion charges.
