Resurfacing project on M-44 near Rockford begins

CANNON/GRATTAN TOWNSHIPS, Mich. (WOOD) — A resurfacing project near Rockford will impact traffic over the next several months.

Starting Monday, the Michigan Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing 10 miles of M-44 , also known as Belding Road, between Myers Lake Avenue and the Kent/Ionia county line.

Lane and shoulder closures will be used throughout the project. Westbound M-44 traffic will be detoured for approximately four weeks.

The entire construction project is expected to be finished on October 8.

Drivers will need to use a couple detours:

  • Detour 1: North on Wabasis Avenue, west on 10 Mile Road and south on Myers Lake Avenue to westbound M-44 (indicated by the blue arrows on map below)
  • Detour 2: North on Ramsdell Drive, west on 9 Mile Road, and south on Young Avenue to westbound M-44 (indicated by the green arrows on map)
