GRPD introduces 3 new K9 units

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Police Department is welcoming three new K9 teams to the force.

The three teams started their new assignments on June 14. Officer Jeff Dionne and Atos and Officer Peter Thompson and Kilo have been assigned to the West Service Area. Officer Doug Stevens and Jack have been assigned to the South Service Area, according to a GRPD news release. 

The three teams completed eight weeks of training and have passed GRPD internal standards.

GRPD now has eight K9 teams.
