LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Governments would be prohibited from setting local minimum wages or other employer requirements under a bill moving through the Michigan Legislature.

The Republican-led House on Tuesday approved changes that were made to the bill in the Senate last week. The House also made further changes aimed at making sure the legislation would not impact ongoing projects led by the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

The vote in the House was 59-51, mostly along party lines with several Republicans joining Democrats in voting against it.

The vote in the Republican-led Senate last week was similar.

The bill now returns to the Senate for approval of the changes made in the House.
