DETROIT (AP) — A 29-year-old man is due in court on murder and other charges in the deaths of two children who were struck during a high-speed chase with Detroit police.
Lorenzo Harris is expected to be arraigned Saturday.
A 6-year-old boy and his 3-year-old sister were hit by a Chevrolet Camaro and killed Wednesday evening while playing outside a home. Three other children and a woman were hurt when the car crashed into a porch.
Police have said the car reached an average speed of 95 mph during the 62-second chase that spanned 1.64 miles.
A passenger in the Camaro was injured. He has not yet been charged.
Harris also is charged with fleeing and eluding police, leaving the scene of an accident causing death, reckless driving and carrying a concealed weapon.
