Fire contained at McDonald’s in Dowagiac

DOWAGIAC, Mich. (WOOD) — Fire crews put out a fire at a McDonald’s in Dowagiac Friday night.

The fire started just before 8:50 p.m. at the McDonald’s restaurant located at 652 Spruce Street.

According to a news release, when fire crews entered the building, the manager told them all employees and customers had been evacuated from the building.

Fire officials said the fire started in the women’s bathroom above the bathroom stalls and was contained to a ventilation system in the area. Firefighters had to remove duct work and ceiling materials to prevent the fire from spreading.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.

No one was injured.
