GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A burglary suspect who led officers on a chase through Kent County back in March has been sentenced.
Thursday, Richard Myatt, 42, was sentenced to four to 10 years in prison for breaking and entering, and three and a half years to five years for fleeing and eluding. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
According to authorities, the chase started in southern Kent County on March 27 when police tried to pull over Myatt, a suspect in a string of burglaries in Byron Township. When the officer turned on his lights, Myatt took off. The chase ended on Lake Michigan Drive near Covell when his car rolled over.
Michigan State Police records show Myatt has a long criminal history including felony larceny and breaking and entering dating back to 1993.
