Power restored to more than 5K in Walker-GR area

WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — Power has been restored to thousands of Consumers Energy customers in the Walker-Grand Rapids area.

The power outage occurred around 8:45 a.m. Thursday and affected more than 5,300 customers between I-96 and Lake Michigan Drive NW, according to the Consumers Energy online outage map.

Consumers Energy told 24 Hour News 8 that a bird got into the substation causing the outage.

Power was restored just before 11 a.m.
