Toddler dies after found unresponsive in pool

NILES, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a toddler died in the hospital two days after he was found unresponsive in a pool.

Marcus Criglear, 2, of South Bend and his mother were visiting family at a home in the 1800 block of Stateline Road in Niles when the child was found not breathing in a pool just before 8 p.m. Thursday.

Police began performing CPR until an ambulance arrived and the toddler was taken to a hospital in South Bend in critical condition.

Criglear passed away Saturday afternoon at the hospital.

It’s unclear how or why the child got in the water.
