2 charged for breaking into vacant home

STANTON, Mich. (WOOD) — Two suspects have been charged for breaking into a home and stealing scrap metal.

On Thursday, Robert Allen Andrews, 22, and Joseph Allen Burns, 32, both of Cedar Springs, were arraigned at the 64B District Court in Stanton.

Andrews was charged with breaking and entering and possession of burglary tools. He is being held at the Montcalm County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Burns was charged with breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools and habitual offender. He is being at the Montcalm County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

The two suspects were arrested on July 7 in the 8000 block of North Maple Hill Road in Reynolds Township, according to a Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Police said the two had broken into a vacant home and were stealing plumbing for scrap metal. A neighbor had spotted the suspects taking things from the house and confronted them. The neighbor became suspicious and called authorities.

The two suspects fled the scene on foot and were later arrested by deputies.
