GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Matthew Brunn, the man accused of murdering an 81-year-old man at a Walker motel, was found guilty.
Wednesday, a jury convicted Brunn of first-degree murder in the death of Casey Wybenga. His sentencing is set for Aug. 12.
Wybenga was found dead on Dec. 30 at a motel on 3 Mile Road near Alpine Avenue in Walker.
Brunn, a parole absconder, was soon sought as a person of interest. He was arrested a few days later in Detroit. The 29-year-old allegedly confessed to investigators that he smoked crack and “fooled around” with Wybenga before he became angry and strangled the man.
