Motorcyclist hurt in crash north of Tekonsha

FREDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital after crashing between Tekonsha and Marshall Tuesday night.

The wreck happened around 11 p.m. on 15 1/2 Mile Road at J Dr. South in Fredonia Township, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

After deputies were called to the scene of the crash, they found a 36-year-old Tekonsha man lying in the roadway.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo with a head injury. His condition was unknown Wednesday.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist passed them, then lost control and went off the roadway. It’s not yet known what caused the motorcyclist to lose control.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The sheriff’s department is still investigating.
