LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Rick Snyder is calling for all U.S. flags to be lowered to half-staff in Michigan through Saturday to honor the victims of last week’s mass shooting in Tennessee.
Snyder says flags should be returned to full-staff on Sunday. The governor’s action mirrors a federal directive.
In a statement, Snyder says: “This senseless act of violence is a tragedy resulting in the loss of five courageous men dedicated to protecting the freedoms of our country.”
Four Marines and one Navy sailor were killed during shootings by 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez at two Chattanooga military sites.
