Grand Rapids Balloon Festival takes flight

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Balloon Festival is taking flight at the Hudsonville Community Fairgrounds.

More than two dozen pilots will launch their hot air balloons Friday and Saturday from the fairgrounds, located at 5235 Park Ave. in Hudsonville.

Activities start at 5 p.m. Friday with the balloon launch scheduled for 7 p.m. Following the launch, pilots will show off their balloons with a twilight balloon illumination known as the Night Glow event.

The festival continues Saturday with events throughout the day.

Admission for the Grand Rapids Balloon Festival is free, parking is $5.

It’s a non profit event, all of the proceeds go to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Festival visitors are asked to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs.
