Guns, cocaine found after complaints at apt. complex

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A 21-year-old Kalamazoo man is facing several charges after police searched his apartment and found guns and crack cocaine for sale.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team searched the home at the Interfaith Homes Apartment Complex following a recent increase in gunshots in the area.

Police said they got tips from the community which led to their search of the man’s apartment in the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard.

Investigators said they also found ammunition in the apartment, leading them to believe the apartment was used to hide and stash additional guns.

The handgun they found in the apartment was stolen from another address in Kalamazoo.

The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team urges anyone with information about illegal drugs or firearms to call (269) 337-8880 or report an anonymous tip to Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.
