Kentwood PD investigating recent string of break-ins

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Kentwood are investigating a recent string of break-ins at the Bailey’s Grove housing development.

It’s located near 52nd Street SE and E Paris Avenue SE and includes a thousand homes.

Police say someone has broken into nine different homes in the past 30 days. The break-ins mostly happen on weekends, often at night.

One homeowner told 24 Hour News 8 he came upon the intruder in his basement around 3:45 a.m. last Sunday.

The resident, who ran upstairs and called police, says the burglar shined an iPone light in his face and yelled at him.

Police say the burglar is getting in through open doors and usually takes cash and small items.

Police are reminding residents in the Bailey’s Grove neighborhood to lock their doors.
