Teen injured in pin-in crash

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A teen boy was injured after he was pinned inside a vehicle following a crash in Grand Rapids Township.

Kent County deputies say the 16-year-old was traveling eastbound on 3 Mile Road near Maguire Avenue NE around 7:30 p.m. Monday when he lost control of his Mitsubishi Spider convertible.

The vehicle hit two trees before rolling over and pinning the teen inside.

Firefighters had to extricate the teen from the vehicle. He was taken to DeVos Children’s Hospital with facial fractures and an amputated finger.

The teen’s name has not been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
