GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) Art will take over West Michigan on September 23. The same day ArtPrize opens in downtown Grand Rapids, ArtWalk begins in Grand Haven.
Grand Haven ArtWalk was inspired by ArtPrize. The event is walkable art competition with prizes awarded for public vote and judges’ vote. Art is displayed at nearly 80 venues throughout the downtown Grand Haven area. Organizers say the event complements ArtPrize by giving visitors a smaller-scale experience that’s more walkable and intimate.
There are several events planned during ArtWalk including an ArtBike Parade and Family Art Day on Saturday, September 26. Visit the ArtWalk website for a complete schedule of events.
If you’re interested in volunteering during ArtWalk, there is a meeting on September 10 at 7 p.m. at The Firebarn Gallery in Grand Haven.
See recent paintings by ArtWalk organizer and Firebarn Gallery Director Chris Protas at The Fed Galleries at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. “The Moral of the Story” is on view through September 5. A closing reception is 5 – 7 p.m. on September 2.
