ALBION, Mich. (WOOD) — A suspect has been arrested after an attempted sexual assault at a residence hall on Albion College’s campus.
Albion Department of Public Safety officers were called to Wesley Hall after a report of an attempted sexual assault.
A student told police she woke up to a find a man trying to have sex with her. She was able to fight the man off and began yelling for help, at which time the suspect ran out of the room. The victim was not injured.
The suspect was later arrested at another residential building on campus, which was not occupied at the time. He is not an Albion College student, but was visiting another student in Wesley Hall.
The suspect was identified by police on Tuesday as 20-year-old Keontia Maurice West of Albion. He is charged with kidnapping, assault with intent to commit a felony, two counts of breaking and entering, being a minor in possession of alcohol and resisting and obstructing a police officer.
He was formally arraigned Tuesday and his bond was set at $25,000.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call ADPS or Albion College Campus Safety.
