2 arrested at flea market for selling counterfeit goods

HOWARD CITY, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were arrested for allegedly trying to sell counterfeit items at a flea market in Howard City.

The Michigan State Police Tobacco Tax Enforcement Team was inspecting the Burley Park Flea Market and discovered several vendors were selling counterfeit purses, perfume and headphones.

Two suspects, ages 17 and 19, were arrested. One of the suspects took off on foot, but was captured by police.

Police say more than 400 items with an approximate value of $10,000 were seized, including counterfeit Beats headphones and MK purses.

Detectives say the two suspects came to the event from Chicago every year.

They were taken into custody on felony charges, and are currently being held in the Montcalm County jail.
