CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police have ruled that a fire inside the parking garage at Gerald R. Ford International Airport last month was accidental.

An MSP report released Wednesday says that the Aug. 30 fire started in the engine compartment of a Dodge Ram owned by a Comstock Park woman and then spread.

At the time, fire officials said a total of seven vehicles were damaged: two were total losses, one sustained heavy damage and the remaining four sustained minor cosmetic damage.

One person had to be treated for smoke inhalation following the fire, but was not hospitalized.

Tuesday, 24 Hour News 8 obtained surveillance video through the Freedom of Information Act that shows the fire burning.
