Squirrel causes power outage in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Nearly 3,000 residents in Grand Rapids were without power Saturday afternoon.

The outage happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. Consumers Energy told 24 Hour News 8 that crews are working to restore services.

The power was restored shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The cause of the outage was a squirrel that got into a substation, Consumers Energy told 24 Hour News 8.
