GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities in Grandville began investigating Saturday morning after a suspicious package was found outside of the Grandville Post Office.
The incident happened just before 8 a.m. at the U.S. Post Office, located on Wilson Avenue SW.
Officials on scene said because of the proximity in date to September 11 and the fact that the office is a federal building, the Michigan State Police Department and bomb squad were called to the scene.
Authorities closed down a two-block radius around the office as they investigated.
At around 10:30 a.m., the bomb squad determined the suitcase was not a threat and the scene was cleared.
